White House Tour/Tour of Washington DC
There is so much to do and see in this area and we want to make sure that the family, especially the first time visitors, experience it to the maximum. With this in mind, we’re planning to show you some of the National Monuments (i.e. Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, King Memorial) as well as some of the African American Historic Sites.
Tour the home of the President of the United States. The White House has been home to every president, except George Washington. The White House tour is a free, self-guided tour that takes about 45 minutes. It includes the ceremonial rooms in the center of the White House and the East Wing.
If you are interested in doing the tour, you will need to complete the security form found here. Your information is required by the Secret Service and it must match your government identification presented upon entering the White House.
White House tour requests must be made through one’s Member of Congress. Our request will be submitted through the office of Congressman Donna Edwards, who Represents Maryland's 4th Congressional District. Since the White House determines the tour time, we will adjust our other tours accordingly.
Because this tour is very popular and the White House schedules tours on a first-come, first-served basis, we need to submit our request as early as possible, up to six months in advance. Please complete the form and return it no later than December 31, 2014. NO EXCEPTIONS! Because of the size of the group we may need to have some request through MD House Representatives. We will not find out if our tour is approved until two weeks (end of June) before the reunion. If the tour is not approved, we will still have a Tour of Washington DC.
(There will be a cost for the tour of Washington DC-TBD) Please budget a cost of $10-$20 per person for transportation
